designed to thrive
Observation Guides
Before we can cultivate growth, we must learn to pay attention.
Every child is uniquely designed by God—fearfully and wonderfully made, with gifts to nurture, strengths to celebrate, and areas that require patient cultivation. The same is true for the adults who guide them.
The Designed to Thrive Guides are tools for faithful observation. They help families, teachers, school leaders, and cultivators notice how God has uniquely wired the people in their care so that decisions about learning, support, and discipleship can be made with greater wisdom and intention.
These guides are not assessments to pass, labels to assign, or boxes to fit into.
They are invitations to slow down, pay attention, and steward well what God has entrusted to you.
Three Guides. One Purpose.
-
For observing and understanding the unique design, developmental readiness, strengths, interests, and growth areas of each
-
For parents, teachers, mentors, and homeschool educators. Before we can faithfully cultivate others, we must understand our own gifts, tendencies, strengths, and areas for growth.
-
For administrators, directors, and educational leaders. Healthy learning environments are shaped by leaders who understand both their own design and the people they are called to serve.
How to Use These Guides:
We recommend completing:
• One Child Guide for each child in your care
• One Cultivator Guide for each parent, teacher, or primary educator
• One Leadership Guide for administrators and school leaders
As you work through the guides, look for patterns rather than perfection. Pay attention to strengths before weaknesses. Notice where life, joy, curiosity, and engagement naturally emerge.
The goal is to better understand who God created them to be.
When we learn to recognize and honor God's design, we become better cultivators—able to provide the support, challenge, encouragement, and opportunities each person needs to flourish.
This is where faithful cultivation begins.
